🇯🇵 Amazon Japan seller fees (2026)

Last updated: 2026-10-14

Amazon.co.jp charges sellers in two layers: a selling plan and a referral fee on each sale. If you use FBA, fulfilment fees come on top. Here is how each works and how to estimate the total before you list.

Short version: most sellers pay ¥4,900 a month (professional plan) plus a referral fee of about 5–15% of the sale price, depending on the category. Amazon's fees are quoted before consumption tax, and 10% tax is added on top, so a 15% fee really costs 16.5%.

1. Selling plans

PlanCost (excl. tax)Good for
Professional (大口出品)¥4,900 per month, no per-item feeMore than about 49 sales a month
Individual (小口出品)¥100 per item soldTesting the market with a few sales

The break-even is about 49 items a month: 49 × ¥100 = ¥4,900.

2. Referral fees (販売手数料)

The referral fee is a percentage of the total sale price, including shipping and gift wrap. It depends on the category. Typical rates:

Amazon revises individual categories from time to time, so treat these as a starting point and confirm your category on the official fee page or with the revenue calculator.

3. Consumption tax on fees

Amazon Japan quotes its fees before Japanese consumption tax and adds 10% tax on them. That's why you'll see figures like 8.8% (8% + tax) or 16.5% (15% + tax) in Japanese seller guides. When you estimate margins, multiply the fee rate by 1.1.

4. FBA fees

With Fulfilment by Amazon you also pay a per-unit fulfilment fee based on size and weight, plus monthly storage. These change more often than referral fees, so take them from Amazon's current FBA fee table or the revenue calculator for your actual product dimensions.

Worked example

A ¥3,000 item (shipping included) in a 10% category, sold on the professional plan:

Our calculator uses 16% for Amazon JP by default, which covers a 15% category plus tax on the fee. Change it to your category's rate × 1.1 for a precise result.
